Browser Settings

For optimum performance, you must have javascript and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets enabled). Follow these instructions to set your browser:

  • STEP 1. Open your Preferences window in your browser's settings area.
  • STEP 2. Find and open the Fonts section and make sure you have Page-Specific fonts as your default setting.
  • STEP 3. Find and open the Advanced settings and make sure you have Javascript and Style Sheets turned ON.

AOL Users

Make sure you have the latest version of the AOL software:

  • Go to the Services menu at the top of your screen and choose Member Services. (A dialog will ask "Are you sure you want to enter this free area?" Click OK). A screen will come up. Choose AOL Software. Or, simply use the Keyword "Upgrade".
  • Follow instructions to download the latest version.
  • When you are done, use the Go to menu and choose Exit Free Area to get back to where you were.
  • To use Netscape or Internet Explorer with the latest version of AOL, simply download and install either browser and start the browser after signing on to AOL.

ACCESSING MY SCHOOL'S PAGE

To access your MonsterTRAK school page and search jobs posted to your campus, you must be a student or an alumnus of one of the participating campuses. Click Search Jobs, select your campus and enter the school password. If you do not know your school password, contact your Career Center. Most campuses allow access to MonsterTRAK from on-campus computers without a password. If you are on campus, and do not know your school password, leave the password box blank and click submit.

Registering with MonsterTRAK

Click on Register & Post Your Resume, select your school in the list of College and University Career Centers OR in the list of Graduate Schools & MBA Programs (do not highlight a school from both lists) and enter your school password. Note: If you are working from an on-campus computer and do not know the password you may be able leave the password blank and continue.

Supply the requested information and be sure to make a note of your user name and user password because you will need this information for future entry into your account on the system. Note: The system will email you a confirmation of your user name and user password.

UPLOADING YOUR RESUME ON MONSTERTRAK

First, make sure that you are using a newer version of your Internet browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or above or Netscape 4.0 or above. You can upgrade your browser for free by visiting the Internet Explorer or Netscape websites.

Login to MonsterTRAK with your user name and user password. On the Main Menu, click on the Resumes link. On the Resume page, click on Upload Your Resume. Read the Release Agreement and click on the check box if you comply. Name your resume. Note: Only you will be able to view the resume name.

Click on Browse to find your resume on your hard drive or on a disk and then double-click on the file to be uploaded. Click on Upload Your Resume, review the Preview Resume page and if you are satisfied with the resume then click on Save Resume. If you are not satisfied with your resume, you will need to modify your resume offline and then click on Update/Replace to repeat the resume upload process.

In order to have a well formatted resume, keep these points in mind:

  • Use one-inch margins on your document.Narrower margins may lead to formatting problems.
  • Stick to the most common fonts (Times New Roman, Arial, Courier, Helvetica). Some of the less prevalent fonts will not translate properly.
  • The following file types are currently supported:

TO ENTER YOUR RESUME AS TEXT

If you do not have one of the accepted formats and want to type your resume directly onto the site then click Text Editor on the upload resume page. Read the Release Agreement and click on the check box if you comply, name your resume and type your resume into the text box provided. Remember that your resume needs to be basic text and no formatting is accepted. Review the Preview Resume page, and then click Save Resume. If you wish to modify your resume, you will need to click Update/Replace to re-enter your resume in the text box.

UPLOADING YOUR COVER LETTER

If you want to store a general cover letter on the MonsterTRAK site, go to the Resumes page and click Upload Your Cover Letter. Note: You can only store one cover letter on the site. Read the Release Agreement and click on the check box if you comply. Click on Browse to find your resume on your hard drive or on a disk and then double-click on the file to be uploaded. When you have uploaded the correct cover letter, click Save Cover Letter.

MANAGE RESUMES

Use Update/Replace to upload a new version of your resume in place of the one saved online. You either need to make your changes offline and upload the new version of your resume, or you will need to return to the Text Editor page to make changes online. Your Primary Resume is the resume that the career center can download for resume referral. If you choose to participate in the employer resume search, your primary resume will be available for employers to search.

You may want to download the PDF version of your resume to ensure that it looks correct (this is the version that employers receive when you submit your resume to them). Note: You cannot modify the PDF version of your resume. Selecting Delete will completely remove your resume from the website.

Search Jobs

You can search for Jobs and Internships posted to your school by entering your school site or through MonsterTRAK's general job search. To search jobs posted to your school, click Search Jobs, then select your school, enter the school password and click Submit. When you enter your school site, select Find Jobs and Internships. You can be as detailed or general as you like in your search, as none of the fields are required to conduct a search. Position Type - Allows the job seeker to select from among full-time, part-time, experienced and internship listings.
